During the school year, a teddy bear poster hangs on the wall outside B.J. Meyer’s kindergarten classroom at Washington Elementary School. It was still there Tuesday. The only difference was that the classroom entrance was blocked and flanked with plastic protection, put there to prevent the spread of asbestos and finishing abatement inside the school.

An Owatonna High School student who said he was upset with the school because he was not allowed to attend prom now faces felony charges for damage he allegedly caused to the building.

Dr. Brian Davis is trying to give Tim Walz a run for his money. Walz, the freshman U.S. Congressman, holds a commanding lead in the overall total of cash on hand for the upcoming election. But in the last three-month filing period, which ended June 30, Davis, R-Rochester, came close to matching the amount raised by Walz, a Mankato Democrat.

Championship Productions comes to OHS to film wrestling series
Scot Davis and three of his wrestlers will be teaching hundreds of kids proper wrestling technique. Ames, Iowa-based Championship Productions contacted Davis this spring to do a series of instructional high school wrestling videos. Championship Productions sells a lot of videos and DVDs, but only one high school wrestling series. This year, Owatonna will be the only high school program showcased.
