OWATONNA — An Owatonna man is being treated for his injuries after jumping off an Interstate 35 bridge.
Steele County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Milo Dahlin said the incident is being treated as a medical incident and declined to give the man’s name.
Steele County Sheriff’s deputies, Owatonna Police, Owatonna Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the southbound lanes of I-35 — where County Road 18 crosses the interstate — at about noon Monday.
The man parked his vehicle along the side of interstate and jumped off the bridge, Dahlin said. Mayo One was called to the scene and the man was airlifted to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Traffic on both lanes of the Interstate was blocked for about 15 minutes as Mayo One landed, but traffic returned to normal shortly after.
Dahlin said the man was believed to have non-life threatening injuries.
