Dear American Airlines
By Jonathon Miles
Houghton Mifflin Company
2008
Dear American Airlines, a IX#F! !# novel by Jonathan Miles, about his /@3X!S>#O! experience while waiting through a *x![IF//z\! flight delay. Some “Some advance praise” call it “funny, irreverent... powerful and hilarious... wise and layered.” I call it vulgar and profane. Reference to bodily functions, sexual escapades and downright cussin’ dominate this novel.
If cleaned up this would be a delightful tale of a long airport waiting-room saga. Why the author cannot (or will not) describe his thoughts and surroundings without the use of so many vulgar words and references is a puzzle, for he is obviously familiar with better words. For this reader, the X#=!\FSO< language spoils the fun. Read with caution... and keep it away from... well, I’m not for censorship but do suggest discernment.
