OWATONNA — Walter Flemming, 86,  of Owatonna died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Owatonna Homestead Hospice House.
A Mass of Christian burial is set for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna, with the Rev. Edward Mc Grath officiating. A private family internment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
Friends may greet the family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday Dec. 29, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 S. Elm. There will be a 3:45 p.m. parish Rosary at the St. Joseph Church on Tuesday. The visitation will continue an hour before the funeral liturgy at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday.
Walter Flemming was born in Waseca County, Minn., on March 26, 1923, the son of Frederick & Frieda (Ewert) Fleming.  He married Rose Marie McMahan at Holy Redeemer Church, Eyota, Minn., on March 4, 1946.  Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Rochester and Janesville, Minn., for 39 years.
The family moved into Owatonna in 1968. Walter was also a successful salesperson for approximately 40 years.  He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening, traveling and fishing.  Walter’s greatest joy was his family; especially spending time with his children, grandchildren  and great-grandchildren.
Walter was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Owatonna.
Survivors include his wife, Rose, of Owatonna; his four sons, Fred (Ginger) Flemming of Owatonna; James (Andy) Flemming of Austin, Minn.; Tom Flemming of Owatonna; Mike (Rhonda) Flemming of Owatonna; seven daughters, Ramona (Newell) McGee of Pine Island, Minn.; Jo (Gary) Nuzum of Owatonna; Mary (Mike) Wencl of Medford, Minn.; Patty (Mike) Simonson of Spring Valley, Minn.; Becky (Perry) Bielefeldt of Owatonna; Susan (Ken, Jr.)  Hodgden of Menahga, Minn.; Lisa (Stacey) Hannover of Owatonna; 36 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Kukuk of Waseca, Minn., and many nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Erna Yess and two grandchildren. 
Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House, 2350 26th Street NW, Owatonna,  MN, 55060.
