Erlys Yvonne Jorgenson Krueger
1927 — 2009

ST. PETER — Erlys Yvonne Jorgenson Krueger, 82, died at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital on Dec. 7, 2009.
Born June 1, 1927, in Fargo, N.D., to Eugene and Pauline Jorgenson she graduated in 1948 from Northern State Teacher’s College, Aberdeen, S.D. with a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a minor in English. On Aug. 25, 1948, she married Arnold Charles Krueger. They just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Erlys was a church organist and accompanist throughout her life. She began playing organ at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, S.D. as a young teenager. Upon moving to Owatonna in 1950 she was the church organist for Trinity Lutheran Church for close to 30 years. After retiring as organist at Trinity Lutheran, Erlys continued to be a substitute organist for many congregations throughout the Le Center area. In the early 60s, Erlys received her second college teaching degree in English. She taught seventh through 12th grade English in Owatonna and in surrounding communities retiring in 1986.
Erlys was a member of the ALC [now ELCA] Lutheran Church. She enjoyed Bible study and studying Old Testament history and church history. She was an avid fan of crossword puzzles and supporter of the National Wildlife Association and Luther Seminary. Erlys will be especially remembered for her gentle and humble spirit, her love and conscientious care as a wife and mother, her quiet strength and her life-long pursuit of learning.
Survivors include husband of 61 years, Arnold Krueger, Le Center; son, Arnold Krueger Jr. (Estee) Apple Valley; daughter, Eleda Krueger Blair, North Mankato; brother Paul (Carrie) Jorgenson, Littleton, Colo.; grandchildren: Jeff Krueger, Madison, Wis., Mike Krueger (Amanda) Eagan, Joelle Krueger, Eagan, and Sarah Blair, Plymouth Meeting, Pa.; great-grandson Adam Krueger of Eagan.
Erlys was preceded in death by her two sisters, Marvel Jean Jorgenson and Lorna Rae Jorgenson Lebold and her parents, Eugene and Pauline Jorgenson.
Private Services were held at Blue Grass Cemetery, Le Center, MN on D. Dec. 8, 2009.
Memorial Contributions can be sent to: Arnold Krueger, c/o Erlys Krueger Memorial Fund, 43731 Blue Grass Rd, Le Center, MN 56057. The Memorial Funds will be divided between First Lutheran Church, St. Peter; Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Minneapolis; and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, North Mankato.
