Christopher Tysdale

MORRISTOWN — Christopher Tysdale, 60, of Morristown, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009.
He was born Sept. 16, 1949, in Marshalltown, Iowa the son of Arnold and Bernyce (Barbee) Tysdale. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1967. After graduating from high school, Chris traveled around the country with a carnival, selling tickets to the Girly Show. He then took off for Mexico with friends and lived in Puerto Vallarta for a short time. After his bit of wanderlust ended, Chris moved to Colorado where he lived for nine years. While in Colorado, he started working at what is now known as Qwest in 1972. He transferred with the company to Minnesota in 1981 and retired from Qwest in April of 2009 after almost 37 years of service. Chris lived on Cedar Lake for a number of years until moving to Morristown. During his time at the lake Chris met and married Kim Bethke in 1985. They were later divorced.
Chris loved fishing, hunting, playing pool, golfing, playing cards and socializing with his friends. The greatest joy of his life was his daughter, Kelly. Chris will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his generous heart.
He is survived by daughter, Kelly Tysdale of Alexandria, Minn.; two brothers, David (and Audrey) Tysdale of Owatonna, Rod (and Deb) Tysdale of Haverhill, Iowa; nephews, Justin (and Angie) Tysdale of Breezy Point, Minn., Michael Tysdale of Owatonna, Ryan (and Renee) Piepho of Owatonna; nieces, Amanda (and Rob) Swolley of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Jillisa Veit of Monticello, Minn. He is also survived by his great-nieces and nephews, Sofia Tysdale, Cora Piepho, Olivia Swolley, Jared Swolley, Reese Piepho, Mitchell Veit and Austin Veit. Chris is also survived by his former wife, Kim Tysdale, his aunt, June Gile of Marshalltown, and cousin, Steve (and Mary) Gile of Marshalltown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Bernyce, his sister-in-law Joanne Tysdale, his nephew Jared Tysdale, his uncle Ray Gile and his grandparents.
In accordance with Chris’ wishes, a memorial service will not be held. A celebration of Chris’ life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Morristown Community Center beginning at 3 p.m. All friends and loved ones are welcome to share stories, laugh, and celebrate a life that touched so many. Chris was one of a kind and we all have special memories of him. Also in accordance with Chris’ wishes, the family is asking that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers a memorial to the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. Arrangements are by the Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna, Minn.
