Community support has been amazing
Email Print
In a time of need it’s amazing to see how so many use their own unique talents, abilities and resources to the benefit of others.
Over the past two-plus years our family has been blessed by all of you who, in one way or another and whether in a “big” or “small” way, have made a difference in our lives.
Some have brought meals; some have taken the boys for a bit (or longer.); some have provided taxi services — local and long-distance; some have conducted work for us yet did not charge us for that work; some have gone into “maid mode” for a few hours; some have given money; some have prayed and some have done their part “behind the scenes.” And while “thank you” seems now to be so very inadequate, it’s pretty much all we can do at this time. So, whatever particular way it was that you joined with us in Janella’s fight against cancer, please accept our most sincere and heartfelt “thank you.”
A very special note of thanks goes to Grace Baptist Church. And perhaps nothing more clearly exhibits the love and support they’ve offered than the fundraiser they hosted on November 7. No doubt dozens were involved with this undertaking — organizers, cooks, kitchen help, furniture movers, cleaners, etc. Suffice it say there were a lot of people involved; thank you to all of you.
Last but certainly not least, a huge “thank you.” to Angel Flight who transported Janella at no charge from Owatonna to Bolingbrook’s (Illinois) Clow Airport and back for one of her treatments. It saved us a ton of time and gas and allowed Janella to not have to endure a painful 16-plus-hours road trip. Dear Reader, please consider donating to Angel Flight. I am so glad so many people in the community have come together and reached out to help. It's amazing what positive things this town can do when we all work together.

Having lost a sister and brother to this ugly disease, I can empathize with the trials and tribulations that Brian and his family have gone through. They have selfishly gave to the community and all they have ever asked for was kindness in return. I hope that those who are unable to offer assistance to Brian and his family will offer assistance to the American Cancer Society. Every little bit helps towards a cure.

I sure hope that dfairbanks meant "selflessly" instead of "selfishly," unless, of course, "selfishly" IS more accurate.

Probably not....

NoteTaker, I owe you one. Thanks for catching my major typo. Yes, they have selflessly offered their time.
