ALBERT LEA — The Owatonna Express got down early, but rebounded and easily skated past Albert Lea.

After the Thunder got a goal from Stephen Obarzanek, Owatonna was down 1-0, but the Express scored twice before the first period ended and never gave up the lead.

Chris Bournazos and Chris Darnell scored first-period goals and the Express led 2-1 with 4 minutes, 3 seconds left in the first period.

Nick Widing, Brian McGinty and Pat Borer scored second-period goals as Owatonna pulled away. Borer, a defenseman from Golden Valley, scored his first goal of the season in his first action with the Express.

Mike Shibrowski had 32 saves in goal for the Express.

Owatonna improved to 12-5-1 on the season, good for 25 points. The Express are two points behind the Bismarck Bobcats (11-7-5, 27 points), who make an appearance on Sunday night at the Four Seasons Centre.

The Express have three wins in five games against Bismarck.
