ELLENDALE — Highway 30 was closed Wednesday following an accident involving a semi-truck and tractor.

Highway 30 was blocked off about 3 1/2 miles east of Ellendale between County Road 3 and County Road 45 as crews worked to clean up the scene.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a semi-tractor hauling soybeans and a tractor were both heading east on Highway 30. As the tractor attempted to make a left hand turn, the semi-tractor attempted to pass the tractor, hitting the farm machine.

The semi-trailer turned over on the Highway, blocking through traffic and spilling its load onto the roadway.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries.

The Steele County Sheriff’s Office and first responders from Blooming Prairie Police and  Ellendale  were assisting with the scene.

Officials said Highway 30 remained closed until after 1:30 p.m.
