Mrs. Ruth Eleanor Nowak
1917 — 2009

OWATONNA — Ruth Eleanor Nowak, 92, of Owatonna, formerly of Medford, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Traditions II.
She was born April 13, 1917, in Owatonna the daughter of Elmer and Alice (Felton) Woodfill. Ruth attended school in Owatonna through the eighth grade. She graduated with the Medford High School Class of 1936. Ruth married John Nowak June 16, 1936, in Iowa. She worked for many years at the State School in Faribault.
Ruth enjoyed traveling and wintering in Texas with her husband before he preceded her in death in 1996.
Ruth is survived by son, Steven “Jim” (and Debbie) Nowak of Medford; daughters, Janice (and Owen) Svenby of Owatonna, Bonnie (and Richard) Schmidt of Burnsville, Becky McPeek of Bloomington, Mona (and Tom) Moore of Owatonna; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Woodfill of Owatonna, Pat Woodfill of Brownsdale; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, great-grandson, one sister, and three brothers.
Visitation will be at the Congregational United Church of Christ on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held Nov. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Lou Bender officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Medford. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House Patient Care Fund, Owatonna in Support of Alzheimer’s or to the donor’s choice.
