Owatonna Arts Center presents ‘Pastimes’ and ‘Clay for Christmas’

OWATONNA — “Pastimes” the Owatonna Arts Center’s annual art and fine craft holiday sale will be held from Thursday, Nov. 12, through Saturday, Nov. 14, at the center. Hours will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
There will be 16 area artist will be offering their latest creation for sale, there will be paintings, woodcarvings, baskets, silk scarf’s, fussed glass, pottery, painted furniture, twig furniture, wood sculpture, jewelry, and more.
Bring a friend and browse the boutique, and enjoy a warm bowl of soup and fresh bread at the dinner hour. It is a good place to find that unique gift for the holidays, just a reminder some of the pieces are one of a kind, you will want to come early.
The Owatonna Arts Center would alos like to announce  ‘Clay for Christmas’ will be offered from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, and Thursday, Nov. 19, at the art center, studio two. Cost is $29 and you can register through Community Education by calling 444-7900.
One-of-a-kind gifts are the most special and always fun to make, especially out of clay. This hand building in clay class is for kids, ages 6 and up (including adults). Examples of gifts that can be created are: candleholders, salsa bowls, vases, mugs, tiles, spoon holders, olive boats, etc. Each student is guided by his or her imagination and creativity.
In the first session, students will create the items which will then be bisque fired. During the second session, students will paint and glaze the items. The items will then be fired again and students are on their own to pick up their pieces at the Arts Center in two weeks.
All clay items created at the Arts Center are food safe and oven, microwave and dishwasher friendly.
