Barry Adams
Last Thursday evening 45 people enjoyed a very informative and passionate account of the men who joined the Civil War from Owatonna, Clinton Falls, Waseca, Faribault, Pine Island and Cannon Falls.
Barry Adams, a teacher, historian and Gettysburg Licensed Battlefield Guide spoke with such knowledge and enthusiasm that it was an honor to learn so much from his research and wisdom.
The next workshop (second in series of three) will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12, on Alexander Ramsey and Aaron Greenawalt (opening of the American Civil War) from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at SeniorPlace in the MPR room. This program is open to the public.
Civil War era Governor Alexander was a school teacher in Kutztown, Pa. before he traveled west to Minnesota…. so is Barry, the presenter of this Civil War program. And, according to the historians at the Anoka County Historical Society, Aaron Greenawalt was the “First Union Volunteer” (of over 2 million served).
Aaron Greenawalt grew up in Berks County, Pennsylvania before migrating to Minnesota. This program will be about how a great national tragedy touched the lives of both men (Aaron left two small sons at home when he went off to war) and how both affected its outcome.
