Laura F. Olson
1917 — 2009
KASSON — Laura F. (Carlson) Olson, 92, of Kasson died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
She was born June 17, 1917, in rural Henderson, Minn. She was married to Leonard G. Olson Oct. 26, 1937 in Rock Dell, Minn. She grew up in various parts of Minnesota and after marring Leonard they farmed in the Dodge and Olmstead County areas until moving to Rochester in 1960. Leonard died in 1986. Laura moved to Kasson in 1996. She was employed for 17 years as a baker at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester and was a member of the East St. Olaf Lutheran Church. She was active in church and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, music, traveling, crafts, and generally working with her hands.
She is survived by her daugher Janice (Stephen) Crippen of Owatonna and son James Olson of Rochester. She is also survived by four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister Alice Klobunde of Minnetonka.
She was prececed in death by her husband; son, Joseph LeRoy; brother; and six sisters.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Rock Dell with the Rev. Darby Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in the East St. Olaf cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dibble Funeral Home, 213 W. Main St., Kasson and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
