1915 — 2009

OWATONNA — Lola L. Nesdahl, 93, of Owatonna, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea.
Lola was born Oct. 9, 1915, in Byron Township in Waseca County, Minnesota the daughter of Wilhelm and Minnie (Simington) Rosacker. There she was raised and attended country school. She had wanted to be a teacher as she grew up, but being needed on the family farm and the distance to high school she wasn’t able to continue her education. She worked on area farms and on one of these farms, she met her future husband, Simon Nesdahl. They were united in marriage on April 7, 1935 in Waseca County. Together they raised eight children and farmed in Lemond Township. They sold the farm and in 1967 moved to Owatonna. Lola worked at the Owatonna Hospital and for the Owatonna Nursing Home. Simon died in 1981.
Lola loved to bake and sew. She made blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed making lefse, cooking, canning and growing a large garden. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by four daughters, Janis (and Earl) Klinger of Ellendale, Karen (and Orlo) Krause of Dalhart, Texas, Anita (and William) Francisco of Lundstrom, Minn., Linda (and Gregory) Caron of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; four sons, Jerald (and Shirley) Nesdahl of San Jose, Calif., Curtis Nesdahl of Owatonna, Dennis (and Bonita) Nesdahl of Rodney, Ontario, Canada, Duane (and Roberta) Nesdahl of Conway, Ark.; a sister, Dorothy Root of Conutillo, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon; her parents; three brothers, Elmer, Richard, and Raymond; a sister, Elsie; one grandson; one great-grandson; five sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; three nieces; and two nephews.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. at Michaelson Funeral Home with the Rev. Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna.
