BLOOMING PRAIRIE — Patrick J. Cobban, 62, of Blooming Prairie, died unexpectantly Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at his home.
Patrick was born Dec. 27, 1946, in Devils Lake, N.D., the son of George and Madonna (Bertrand) Cobban. He graduated in 1965 from Cando, N.D. High School. He then attended college at North Dakota State University. He was united in marriage to Lois Braun Dec. 28, 1968, in Cando. Patrick was then drafted in the United States Army to serve during the Vietnam War, where he received the Bronze Star, when he returned from service he attended St. Cloud State. He then started working for Federated Insurance in 1975 retiring in 2006. He was a member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie, American Legion, Owatonna Gun Club, and the Owatonna Country Club. Pat enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren and his two dogs. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his two sons, gardening, reading Louis L’Amour books, traveling, and NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife Lois Cobban of Blooming Prairie; mother, Madonna “Betty” Cobban of Grand Forks; daughter, Resha (and Chad) Marble of St. Michael; sons, Don (and Liz) and Derek (and Kristie) Cobban, both of Owatonna. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Tyler, Ashlyn, Kaitlyn, and Zachary; and his sister, Jan (and Jim) Bechtold of Grand Forks. Other survivors include three brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
His father George Cobban, and sister-in-law Donna Hilts preceded him in death.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, May 15, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. John Sauer officiating. Private family burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
